A lifelong athlete, Doctor Franco has always enjoyed learning and expanding her knowledge of the world and of the human body. She graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, while working as a personal trainer. She then went on to earn a Masters of Arts in Consciousness and Transformative Studies from John F. Kennedy University. She graduated from Life Chiropractic College West in 2013 with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree, and has ambitions of getting a PhD in the future.
Her love of education drew her to take seminars from some of the most incredible minds in Chiropractic, Osteopathy and Physical Therapy, and now holds multiple post-graduate certifications. She is a collector of acronyms, as we like to say.
Always looking at patients as a fun puzzle, she loves exploring where a fix, a tweak, an assist, or subtraction of certain activities can make the body feel, move, and respond better. She will never tell you to just not do your favorite activity ever again. Her hope is to find a way of modifying or rehabilitating injuries so that everyone can keep doing the things they love.
Doctor Franco strives to educate all her patients so they are fully informed about what is happening, and hopes to help people understand what too much or too little activity can do to these wonderful bodies of ours. She really believes in the partnership between patient and doctor in order to have her knowledge work in your best benefit.

An East Bay native, Dr. Rich discovered the healing power of chiropractic while competing in Powerlifting. Regular adjustments helped him continue intense training without injury, and squat over 660 pounds, bench press 450 pounds, and deadlift 600 pounds in competition. Having a lifelong interest in human anatomy, physiology, and fitness, it made sense to enter the Chiropractic profession.
Graduating from Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California in June of 2016 with clinical honors, he was a staff writer with the school newspaper, a board member of the Extremities Club, and a certified personal trainer at the school’s fitness center. In fact, he helped build it from a sparsely-equipped gym to a fully-stocked functional fitness facility. After graduation he obtained certification in soft tissue management (Active Release Technique), extremity care (Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner), functional movement screening (Selective Functional Movement Assessment) and sports medicine (Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner), among others.
He works at Back in Balance Chiropractic in Oakland, California with his partner Dr. Jessica Franco, who he met in school and proposed to onstage at his graduation ceremony.

benny the dog
Benny the dog is the Back in Balance designated greeter as well as Dr. Franco & Dr. Manley's favorite snuggle buddy at home.
He enjoys playing with his ball and getting pets from visitors. Fun fact, Benny also has a fairly elaborate wardrobe. Check it out next time you are in. Dr. Franco often coordinates with him.
